Climate Consortium Denmark – for Cleantech Solutions
Climate Consortium Denmark is a public-private partnership between the Danish state and five major business organization. Climate Consortium Denmark’s efforts should not only help Danish companies increase their global business, but also increase Denmark’s attractiveness in relation to investment, new businesses, the work force and foreign students dedicated to studies in energy and climate issues.
We do so by focusing on the broad story about the Danish story and the success we have experienced within the last four decades. In October 1973 the Danes awoke to the cold and unstable realities of the international oil crisis. Back then, the country was more than 90 per cent dependent on imported oil. Since then, however, a complete turnaround in the production and consumption of energy has positioned Denmark as a front runner in cleantech and energy efficiency. What started out as a harsh diet of high energy taxes and rigorous regulatory frameworks has developed into a billion-dollar industry providing tens of thousands of jobs. In the same period the Danish economy has grown by more than 75 per cent, while the country has retained a stable level of energy consumption. The world is now looking to Denmark for efficient clean energy and ready-to-use technologies.
Climate Consortium Denmark was the focal point of all business related matters in the time leading up to the COP15 in Copenhagen. In the future we will still be working to ensure maximum attention to Danish climate- and energy friendly successes.
